The Blackmagic Design Studio Camera 4K Pro G2 brings the functions of large studio cameras into a compact, portable body for professional productions using SDI video switchers. Unlike the Studio Camera 6K Pro, it has neither a Super 35 sensor nor an EF mount. It uses a cinematic 4/3 sensor with 13 stops of dynamic range and an active Micro Four Thirds mount. Compatible lenses can provide iris, focus and zoom control, with autofocus available when supported by the lens.

Connectivity includes 12G-SDI inputs and outputs for program return with camera control, tally and talkback, plus an HDMI output with control functions. The two professional XLR audio inputs can be switched between mic and line levels and support phantom power; there is also a 3.5 mm stereo input and dedicated outputs for talkback and headphones with microphone. A 10 Gb/s Ethernet port carries video, return, Time Code, tally, talkback and control over one cable, enabling a more practical and cost-effective SMPTE-style workflow.

The high-brightness 7-inch HDR LCD keeps the image clear in difficult lighting. Recording can be made directly to USB-C media in Blackmagic RAW, with ExFAT or HFS+ formatting. Direct live streaming is also available through RTMP over Ethernet or through a shared mobile Internet connection over USB-C. Listed uses are television studios and high-end live production.
