The celexon cable connects a DisplayPort source to an HDMI-A device and complies with DisplayPort version 1.2 and HDMI 1.4 specifications. It transmits data at up to 10.2 Gbps and supports a maximum resolution of 4K, Ultra HD or 4096x2160p at 30 Hz with 8-bit colour depth and 4:4:4 chroma subsampling. This chroma processing keeps brightness and image information sharp and complete. With different connectors at its two ends, the product functions as both cable and adapter, so no additional adapter is required when connecting a DisplayPort socket to an HDMI-A socket.

The connection is unidirectional: DisplayPort source devices such as PCs and laptops can be connected to HDMI devices used for playback, including displays and flood lights. The reverse direction, from HDMI to DisplayPort, is not supported. Supported colour spaces are 16/24-bit RGB/YUV, Deep Color and x.v.Color™. Supported audio standards include Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD Master Audio™, DVD Audio and SA-CD. Additional features are MST, Multi-Stream Transport, HDCP and EDID.

MST mode allows several monitors to be operated through one DisplayPort connection on the computer. The displays can be connected in sequence using a daisy-chain arrangement or through an additional DisplayPort MST hub. The number of connectable screens depends on the resolution of each display; for example, 4 Full HD displays can be connected at 1920 x 1080p and 60 Hz.

In a daisy chain, every monitor except the last one must have a DisplayPort receiver and transmitter, allowing it to receive and forward the video stream addressed to itself and the other components. When a monitor extracts its assigned video and audio stream, it transmits the remaining stream along the chain; each monitor in the configuration must therefore have all the necessary information. The alternative MST hub arrangement divides the full bandwidth of a DisplayPort output and can, for example, send 4 independent Full HD signals at 60 Hz. MST hubs distribute these video signals with audio to the connected monitors and allow displays with different inputs to be used.
