The celexon DisplayPort to HDMI cable combines connection and adaptation in one product. It complies with DisplayPort version 1.2 and HDMI 1.4, with a transfer rate of up to 10.2 Gbps. Resolutions up to 4K are supported, including 4096 x 2160p at 30 Hz with 8-bit colour depth. 4:4:4 chroma subsampling transfers the brightness and image information with full detail.

The connection is unidirectional: a DisplayPort source such as a PC or laptop can be linked to an HDMI device used for playback, such as a display or projector. With a DisplayPort connector at one end and an HDMI-A connector at the other, the product also acts as an adapter, so no separate adapter is needed when connecting a DisplayPort socket to an HDMI-A socket.

MST, or Multi-Stream Transport, allows several monitors to operate through one DisplayPort connection on the PC. The screens may be linked in series through a daisy-chain configuration or connected through an additional DisplayPort MST hub. The number of supported displays depends on their individual resolutions; for example, 4 displays with a Full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080p at 60 Hz can be connected.

In a daisy-chain arrangement, every display except the last must have a DisplayPort receiver and transmitter. These components allow the display to receive and forward the video stream addressed to itself and to the other members of the chain. After extracting its assigned video and audio stream, the monitor sends the remaining stream to the next unit; every chained display must have the full required information. The alternative MST hub method divides the complete bandwidth of a DisplayPort output and can, for example, send 4 independent Full HD signals at 60 Hz. MST hubs distribute these video signals with sound to the connected screens and support displays with different inputs.
