The celexon UHD HDMI cable uses optical fibre and complies with the HDMI 2.1 specification, transmitting data at up to 48 Gbps. It handles resolutions up to 8K, namely 7680 x 4320p at 60 Hz with colour depth of up to 12 bits, as well as up to 4K, namely 4096 x 2160p at 120 Hz with colour depth of up to 12 bits. Its construction contains 4 glass fibres and 8 copper wires, supporting reliable signal transmission over long distances.

At the connector intended for the source, the electrical signal is changed into an optical signal. It then travels through the glass fibres to the connector intended for the display, where it is converted back into an electrical signal. The cable direction must therefore be observed during installation. The product description gives a diameter of 5.5 mm, while the technical data states 5 mm. A maximum bending radius of 30 mm and 10 circuits running along the complete cable contribute to flexibility during wiring. The slim connector can also be fitted in difficult-to-access locations and does not cover interfaces positioned close to the connector.

HDR, or High Dynamic Range, including technologies such as Dolby Vision and HDR10+, extends the reproduced colour and dynamic range. Image optimisation is adjusted for each individual image, making fast colour transitions between strong contrasts more natural, for example when the image changes from white to black.

The enhanced audio return channel, eARC, is the latest generation of ARC and forms part of the HDMI 2.1 specification. It transmits up to 32 audio channels with uncompressed 24-bit / 192 kHz data streams at a maximum rate of 38 Mbps. The increased range and speed allow formats including Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD Master Audio, Dolby Atmos and DTS:X to be carried without compression.

The cable also supports Automatic Low Latency Mode, or ALLM, which is particularly relevant to gaming. By removing advanced video processing, this mode reduces delays and provides fast response times. Use of the function requires an ALLM-compatible monitor and source devices able to send a high-quality video signal that can be reproduced immediately by the display.

HDMI 2.1 also provides VRR, or Variable Refresh Rate. This synchronises the image refresh rate of the source device with that of the device used for content playback. The refresh rate can range from 30 to 144 Hz, adapting to maintain sharp images and avoid effects such as screen tearing, especially during gaming. An additional Ethernet channel connects Internet-compatible AV components to the home network with a single HDMI cable. The television only needs to be connected to the network by cable; the AV receiver or Blu-ray player then receives the network connection through the HDMI cable together with the video signal, removing the need for a network switch and additional cables.
