Cardioid expansion module MLC 9 driver 2" ML/PL-Series - Harmonic Design HDE-60206

The Harmonic Design hd MLC Cardioid is an expansion module for specific applications in fixed and mobile installations. Mounted directly on the rear of an hd PL-Series LineArray Stick and operated through a separate amplifier channel, it attenuates mid-low frequency components back-radiated by the column loudspeakers by up to 20 dB. The optimised Line Array directivity considerably reduces susceptibility to loudspeaker feedback in the mid-low range and improves speech intelligibility, since sound energy is not diffusely sent into unwanted areas.

The relevant DSP preset makes it easy to restore cardioid or hypercardioid behaviour. Alongside reducing rear radiation, the module extends mid-low sound pressure towards the audience, producing a more incisive and dynamic result while retaining the same Line Array length. Inputs are connected through a speakON positioned on the bottom plate. A 35 mm flange also allows standalone operation as a main loudspeaker on a tripod.

This is a 1-way passive column loudspeaker with 9 x 2″ drivers, usable as a PointSource system or as a cardioid Add-On. Its single directivity is 100° x 40° and, together with the ML-/PL-Series main loudspeakers, it enables cardioid or hypercardioid radiation on the horizontal plane with attenuation of up to 20 dB. The design supports high speech intelligibility.
