Definitive Audio TD 400 MH is a UHF wireless microphone system consisting of 4 handheld transmitters and a 19", 1U, 4-channel rack receiver with True Diversity technology. The receiver significantly improves reception quality during use and incorporates a PLL phase-locked circuit for stable characteristics and low harmonic radiation. The 4 colour LCD displays and control buttons manage the required settings. The system operates from 580 to 608 MHz and delivers clear, crisp and precise sound.

Maximum transmission power is 13 dBm depending on the region, while transmitter power reaches up to 30 mW. The integrated antenna distribution system effectively reduces mutual antenna-radiation interference. Frequency grouping provides multiple preset groups compatible with the frequencies in use; the switching band reaches 50 MHz and allows up to 2000 selectable frequencies, depending on the region. The secondary display background colour is adjustable, and the transmitter display colour can be changed to match the receiver display.

The receiver has a 1U rack chassis, and rack-mounting lugs are included. The 2 separate antennas improve reception. There are 4 balanced XLR outputs and a balanced jack mix OUT output. The ACT function wirelessly synchronises the transmitter through an infrared interface. The system frequency response is flat from 50 Hz to 16 kHz, and the adjustable equalisation processor has 7 bands.

The oscillation mode is PLL Phase-Locked Loop frequency synthesis; sensor gain is adjustable and modulation is FM. The 4 transmitters are identified in the technical characteristics as bodypack transmitters (x 4), with included lavalier and headworn microphones. The capsules are cardioid and the receiver has 4 channels. RF sensitivity is 6 dBμV at input with S/N above 80 dB. The working range is 60 m in a linear distance; the actual distance depends on absorption, reflection and interference of the RF signal and on the environment in which the microphone is used.

The silent control mode combines audio code and noise lock. The receiver measures 48.3 x 4.6 x 16.2 cm and weighs 4.6 kg.
