The Blackmagic Design ATEM 1 M/E Constellation 4K is a powerful 1 M/E Ultra HD live production switcher with ten standards-converted 12G-SDI inputs, six independent 12G-SDI outputs that can carry any SDI input or internal source, DVE, four advanced ATEM chroma keyers, sixteen-way multiview, media players, and Talkback.

12G-SDI outputs pair with ISO recorders so each path receives a resynchronized switcher input with its time code. For live streaming, USB-C acts as a webcam source at 720p or 1080p as seen by host software.

Front-panel buttons match the build of larger ATEM panels, are extremely reliable, and handle keys, clips, and fade to black; a professional 5-pin Talkback connector and controls are on the same surface. A 2.2" LCD provides menus for every switcher function, with layouts of 4, 7, 10, 13, or 16 tiles, each showing Tally, source label, and an overlay VU meter.

One DVE supports PiP compositions with professional effects, 2D borders, and adjustable shadows and highlights. The internal library holds broadcast-quality RGBA graphics and animations for two instant-play media players. Four advanced ATEM keyers deliver chroma and luminance keys for news and virtual sets; use external image processors or fixed cameras with pre-rendered backgrounds from players and the Media Pool, including TGA Sequence video and WAV, MP3, and AIFF audio. Together with powerful internal graphics, these chroma tools make the unit a complete answer for demanding productions.

Connecting any SDI output of the switcher to a camera supplies program return, camera control, and Talkback. Audio is de-embedded from all SDI video inputs into the built-in Fairlight mixer, handling up to twenty-eight channels with six-band parametric EQ, compressor, limiter, expander, noise gate, and pan on each input.

It suits multi-camera coverage at medium-sized festivals and concerts as well as houses of worship: professional output, straightforward setup, and operation friendly to volunteer crews. A compact chassis keeps the unit portable for general live production.
