ATEM 2 M/E Constellation 4K live video switcher, 20 12G-SDI inputs - Blackmagic Design BLM-SWATEMSCN2/2ME2/4K

Blackmagic Design ATEM 2 M/E Constellation 4K is a 2 M/E Ultra HD live production switcher with 20 standards-converted 12G-SDI inputs. Its 12 independent 12G-SDI outputs can carry any SDI input or internal source, while the system provides 2 DVEs, 8 advanced ATEM keyers for chroma key, 2 multiviews with up to 16 views, media player, Talkback and SuperSource. The 12G-SDI outputs can operate with ISO recorders so that every recorder receives a resynchronised switcher input with its Time Code. For live streaming, USB-C works as a webcam source and the software sees the unit as a webcam with a 720 or 1080p resolution.

The front panel uses high-quality, reliable buttons for controlling keys, files and fade-to-black. It also provides access to a professional 5-pin connector for Talkback and related controls. Menus for every switcher function are available on the front-panel 2.2" LCD. The display can be configured with 4, 7, 10, 13 or 16 views, each including its own Tally indicator, source label and overlaid VU meter.

The 2 DVEs position graphics and create PiP compositions with professional effects, 2D borders, customisable shadows and highlights. The internal media library stores broadcast-quality RGBA graphics and animations for the two media players, which play them instantly. For news and virtual sets, 8 advanced ATEM keyers create high-quality chroma and luminance keys. External image processors can be used, or virtual sets can be built with fixed cameras, pre-rendered backgrounds from the media players and the Media Pool archive, supporting TGA Sequence, WAV, MP3 and AIFF formats.

Alongside the DVEs in the M/E effects banks, SuperSource provides 4 additional DVE layers and a background layer, selectable from ATEM Constellation as normal sources. The video inputs can feed each SuperSource DVE and overlay it on a custom background stored in the archive. SuperSource is suitable for PiP effects during interviews while leaving the main DVEs available for other tasks. The SDI inputs handle embedded audio and the audio mix of all video inputs. Connecting an SDI output to the camera provides program return, camera control and Talkback; audio is separated from the SDI video inputs and routed to the mixer.
