15.6" Ultra HD 12G-SDI IP rack monitor - Blackmagic Design BLM-HDL-SMTV4K12G3

The Blackmagic Design BLM-HDL-SMTV4K12G3 is a 15.6" Ultra HD TFT active-matrix LCD monitor designed for rack mounting, broadcast, live production and lightweight, durable portable workstations. It combines two 12G-SDI inputs up to 2160p 60 with SMPTE-2110 IP video connections over optical fibre and copper, allowing direct connection to IP broadcast systems. Compatibility with NMOS interface specifications allows IP 2110 devices to operate together as one large virtual video matrix.

The SmartView 4K front panel places monitoring controls below the display. The input button selects between the two 12G-SDI video inputs or the 2110 IP input, while a dedicated control adjusts display brightness. The monitor synchronises immediately to a new video source, which is important when it is connected to a video matrix and the input continually changes between multiple sources.

Unlike a television, the signal is not cropped, so the image shows every available pixel on the display surface. Camera focus can be adjusted with a zoom button and a peaking button that highlights the sharpest image details. Further features include framing guides, integrated 3D LUTs for creative looks, custom HDR profile management and support for Blackmagic’s SDI tally protocol: a border lights around the image in red when the camera is on air and in green during preview.

SmartView 4K settings and software updates are managed by downloading the free system utility from the Blackmagic Design website. The software is available for Mac and Windows computers, which connect to the monitor via USB or Ethernet when Ethernet is enabled. The elegant, robust black anodised metal body is suitable for rack installation; its depth of only a few centimetres supports ventilation and natural-convection cooling. Power can be supplied at 220 V AC or 12 V DC.
