Blackmagic Design 2110 IP UpDownCross 12G is a professional standards converter for transforming signals between video devices using SMPTE-2110 IP, 12G-SDI and HDMI. It handles SD, HD and Ultra HD standards with the stated highest-quality conversion and includes a reference input for built-in re-synchronisation. Connectivity combines 10G Ethernet for SMPTE-2110 IP video with SDI and HDMI inputs and outputs supporting multiple formats.

The unit handles 16 channels of embedded audio on SDI and SMPTE-2110 IP video, as well as 8 channels of embedded audio on HDMI. Local listening is provided by 1 analogue headphone output with a 6.35 mm jack. On the front panel, an LCD monitors video, audio, status and settings, while the built-in speaker and its control button provide local audio monitoring. The USB-C port can provide an HD webcam output up to 1080p60, making the converter suitable for streaming and production applications.

SMPTE compliance and support for 4K DCI and Ultra HD formats up to 2160p60 allow Blackmagic Design 2110 IP UpDownCross 12G to be used in professional broadcasting, integrating SMPTE-2110 IP streams with SDI and HDMI infrastructures, and in television production where fast conversion between different standards is required. Ethernet supports 10/100/1000/10G Base-T for SMPTE 2110 IP video in and out, configuration and software updates. The USB-C computer interface is used for webcam output, updates and configuration.

SMPTE compliance includes SMPTE 259M, SMPTE 274M, SMPTE 292M, SMPTE 296M, SMPTE 372M, SMPTE 424M, SMPTE 425M level A and B, SMPTE 2036-1, SMPTE 2048-1, SMPTE 2081-10, SMPTE 2081-11, SMPTE 2081-12, SMPTE 2082-10, SMPTE 2082-11, SMPTE 2082-12 and SMPTE ST2108-1. SDI metadata support covers RP 188/SMPTE 12M-2 and closed captioning. Audio uses the television-standard sample rate of 48 kHz and 24 bit.

Colour precision provides 8-bit and 10-bit RGB 4:4:4 in all modes up to 1080p 30, and 8-bit and 10-bit YUV 4:2:2 in all modes. Colour spaces are Rec. 601, Rec. 709 and Rec. 2020. HDMI HD video standards are 720p 50, 720p 59.94, 720p 60, 1080i 50, 1080i 59.94, 1080i 60, 1080p 23.98, 1080p 24, 1080p 25, 1080p 29.97, 1080p 30, 1080p 47.95, 1080p 48, 1080p 50, 1080p 59.94 and 1080p 60. Local audio monitoring uses a front-panel audio monitor speaker with a speaker control button, together with a 6.35 mm headphone socket. SMPTE 2110-20 uncompressed video uses IGMP v2. For SMPTE 2110-21 traffic shaping, the sender is narrow and the receiver supports narrow, wide synchronous and asynchronous. SMPTE 2110-30 PCM uses audio conformance level C. SMPTE 2110-40 Ancillary Data provides full access to the entire SMPTE ancillary data stream, including RP 188/SMPTE 12M-2, closed captioning and HDR static metadata.

The Blackmagic IP10 codec is used when converting 2160p59.94 and 2160p60 to 10G 2110 IP video. Precision Time Protocol support covers IEEE 1588-2008, PTP v2, ST 2059-1 and ST 2059-2. NMOS IS-04 discovery and registration are provided in version v1.3.2 with peer-to-peer operation through mDNS/DNS-SD, while NMOS IS-05 Connection Management is version v1.1.2. Control includes a built-in 2.2-inch LCD for video, audio, status and menu settings.
