Broadcast deck HyperDeck Studio HD Plus 6G-SDI ProRes - Blackmagic Design BLM-HYPERD/ST/DCHP

HyperDeck Studio HD Plus is a professional video recorder that is wider than the Mini version, retains all of its functions and adds further controls and connections. Using 6G-SDI, it records and plays back ProRes up to Ultra HD at 30 frames per second. It also provides a looping SDI output, dual 6G-SDI fill and key outputs up to 1080p60, and support for HDR standards. The connections include an HDMI input and a dedicated 3G-SDI monitoring output with overlay. Every front-panel button is routed to a dedicated RS-422 remote output, while DC power uses a broadcast-style 12 V DC XLR input. The updated front panel has improved transport buttons, a headphone socket and a built-in mono speaker.

Connections comprise 1 SDI video input, 2 SDI video outputs and 1 SDI monitor output, with rates of 270 Mb, 1.5G, 3G and 6G. There are 1 HDMI 2.0 video input and 1 HDMI 2.0 video output. Audio output is provided by 1 6.35 mm headphone jack, and the display is a 2.2-inch LCD. Time Code connections provide 1 BNC IN and 1 BNC OUT. Reference connections provide 1 BNC IN and 1 BNC OUT with Tri-Sync or Black Burst. Embedded audio provides 16 channels on SDI inputs, 16 channels on SDI outputs, 8 channels on HDMI inputs and 8 channels on HDMI outputs.

Remote control uses 1 RS-422 IN and 1 RS-422 OUT. Recorder configuration is available through the user interface or the Blackmagic HyperDeck Ethernet protocol. Ethernet operates at 1 Gb/s. The computer interface is 1 USB Type-C 3.0, up to 5 Gb/s, for external-drive recording, webcam output, software configuration and updates. The built-in control panel has 13 buttons for transport and device control, a search dial and a 2.2-inch colour display; LED indicator lights are positioned above the SD media slots.

SD video standards are 525i 59.94 NTSC and 625i 50 PAL. HD standards include 720p 50, 720p 59.94, 720p 60, 1080i 50, 1080i 59.94, 1080i 60, 1080p 23.98, 1080p 24, 1080p 25, 1080p 29.97, 1080p 30, 1080p 50, 1080p 59.94, 1080p 60, 1080PsF 23.98, 1080PsF 24, 1080PsF 25, 1080PsF 29.97 and 1080PsF 30. The 2K DCI standards are 2Kp 23.98 DCI, 2Kp 24 DCI, 2Kp 25 DCI, 2Kp 29.97 DCI and 2Kp 30 DCI. Ultra HD standards are 2160p 23.98, 2160p 24, 2160p 25, 2160p 29.97 and 2160p 30. The 4K DCI standards are 4Kp 23.98 DCI, 4Kp 24 DCI, 4Kp 25 DCI, 4Kp 29.97 DCI and 4Kp 30 DCI. The standards data also includes the value 3.98.

Supported codecs include ProRes HQ QuickTime, ProRes 422 QuickTime, ProRes LT QuickTime and ProRes Proxy QuickTime for all formats up to 2160p 30. ProRes 4444 QuickTime is playback-only up to 1080p 60, with automatic fill and key routing over SDI A and B outputs. For 720p and 1080p HD formats up to 60 fps, the supported codecs are DNxHD 220x, DNxHD 220x MXF, DNxHD 145, DNxHD 145 MXF, DNxHD 45 and DNxHD 45 MXF. For 2K DCI and 2160p formats up to 30 fps, they are DNxHR HQX, DNxHR HQX MXF, DNxHR SQ, DNxHR SQ MXF, DNxHR LB and DNxHR LB MXF. H.264 SDI 4:2:2 10-bit, H.264 High 4:2:0 8-bit, H.264 Medium 4:2:0 8-bit and H.264 Low 4:2:0 8-bit cover all formats up to 1080p60.

SDI compliance includes SMPTE 259M, SMPTE 292M, SMPTE 296M, SMPTE 372M, SMPTE 424M, SMPTE 425M level A and B, SMPTE 2081-1, SMPTE 2081-10, SMPTE 2084 and SMPTE 2108-1. SDI metadata support includes HD RP188 and CEA-708 closed captioning; HDR metadata is supported on SDI. Supported HDMI formats are 525i 59.94 NTSC, 625i 50 PAL, 720p 50, 720p 59.94, 720p 60, 1080i 50, 1080i 59.94, 1080i 60, 1080p 23.98, 1080p 24, 1080p 25, 1080p 29.97, 1080p 30, 1080p 50, 1080p 59.94, 1080p 60, 2Kp 23.98 DCI, 2Kp 24 DCI, 2Kp 25 DCI, 2Kp 29.97 DCI, 2Kp 30 DCI and 2160p 2.

Audio sampling is television-standard 24-bit at a 48 kHz sample rate. Video sampling is 4:2:2 YUV with 10-bit colour precision. The colour space includes REC 601, REC 709 and REC 2020. 33-point 3D LUTs can be applied to the SDI monitor output. HDR support includes Hybrid Log-Gamma, ST2084 300, ST2084 500, ST2084 800, ST2084 1000, ST2084 2000, ST2084 4000 and ST2084. Multi-rate support provides automatic detection of SD, HD and 6G-SDI.

Media support consists of 2 SD card slots and 1 USB-C 3.0 expansion port for external recording of SD, HD, 2K DCI, Ultra HD and 4K DCI. The supported media types are UHS-I and UHS-II SD cards. Media can be formatted as ExFAT for Windows or Mac, or HFS+ for Mac. External control includes RS-422 deck control, SDI start/stop, Time Code run, the Blackmagic HyperDeck Ethernet Protocol and remote FTP file upload. Included software comprises Blackmagic OS, Blackmagic HyperDeck Setup and internal software upgrade, loaded at system start or through Blackmagic HyperDeck Setup using the USB port. The documentation also includes accessories and physical installation sections. Storage environmental specifications are a temperature range of -20° to 60° C, or -4° to 140° F, with 0% to 90% relative humidity, non-condensing. The HDMI input cannot capture from copy-protected HDMI sources; copyright ownership must always be confirmed before capture or distribution.

Software control is compatible with Mac 10.15 Catalina, Mac 11.1 Big Sur or later, and Windows 10 64-bit.
